In the case of Dewayne Johnson in the US in which Monsanto was sued for over USD 130 million, papers filed in court revealed that some company officials deliberately tried to cover up negative reports linking glyphosate in the Round Up ready product to cancer. When it was revealed that glyphosate was carcinogenic, the company hired scientists who would produce favourable reports. Dewayne suffered from skin cancers after a long time of exposure to the product. It is common knowledge that this product is marketed worldwide. Even though this matter was settled out of court, it points to a likely avalanche of law suits from all over the world against the company. Such huge liabilities would have been probably avoided through whistle blowing.
